Mental Health Attendant Req #: 30108198 Category: Clinical/Allied Health Facility: Beaumont Hospital Wayne Department: Nursing Support Staffing Schedule: Part time Shift: Afternoons/EveningsHours: 3:00pm-11:30pm Hours per week: 20 Job Details:Job Summary:Under moderate direction, provides companionship, observation and surveillance of assigned Mental Health patients. Functions under the direction of licensed Mental Health staff and Mental Health Worker.Primary Job Duties:1. Provides for direct personal care and safety needs such as assisting to restroom, incontinence care, meal prep and eating, dressing patient, etc under the supervision of licensed Mental Health Staff and Mental health Worker.2. Effectively documents patient status and location on 'Behavior Precaution Observation Flow Sheet' every fifteen minutes3.Monitor and report any changes in patients mental status (e.g. hallucination,paranoia, delusions, suicidal/homicidal ideation, etc.) and physical conditions following specialized mental health training.4.Assists in maintaining a healthy, safe environment5.Assist in crisis situations while maintaining safety for patient, family and self.6.Assists patient with emotional and psychological issues and provides supportto facilitate patient comfort and well being.7.Keeps the patient in constant eye contact during entire assigned shift, including group therapy meetings and activities.8.Follows universal precautions when giving any aspect of patient care.9.Interacts with patient's family and/or significant others with patient consent.10. Cognitive of job responsibilities and limitations and follows chain of commandwhen appropriate.11. Maintain confidentiality12. Demonstrates Customer Focus, Service First, and Oakwood's CREDO.13. Responds to the physical, emotional and developmental needs of the patient.14. Follows emergency procedures in the event of any incident, e.g. accident,injury or significant changes in patient condition.15. And other job duties as assigned by Clinical Manager, ACM's and/or Unit Shift Lead/Charge Nurse. Minimum Job Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or equivalent.Experience:1 year in a Mental Health setting or currently enrolled in a Behavioral Health/Human/Social Services program.Licensure/Certification: BLS and CPI training require upon hire or within 60 days of hire.Skills Abilities:Good communication skills.Work well in an unpredictable environment.
