ITW Air Flow Management is a producer of interior automotive components such as Pressure Relief Valves and Air Registers, with approximate revenues of $90M. Air Flow Management delivers differentiated value to the North American Automotive OEM’s addressing industry trends of autonomous driving, display integration, and customized environments. Business units include Westminster, MA and Reynosa, MX as well as a Sales & Engineering office in the Detroit area. The division has approximately 550 employees in North America.
Functions as the face of ITW Air Flow Management NA to the customer technical counterparts. Guides and steers customer technical counterpart toward the best solution for ITW design for manufacturing, VA/VE, with a focus on overall ITW profitability.
Reports to: Engineering Manager – Air Registers
Technical project lead with responsibility for the function of the component being proposed to the end customer.
Through intense discovery at the OEM, develop a high degree of customer intimacy to derive true customer needs from the customer’s perspective.
Further refine these needs, with the help of the Sales team, to develop innovative solutions with a focus on patent protection.
Lead the product development efforts through all areas of expertise (including, but not limited to, CAD engineering, BOM development, bench testing, interpreting reports on analysis & testing, etc.).
Defines BOM where applicable and guides bill of material selections with respect to material according to customer performance standards and ITW corporate guidance wherever possible

•2 years as a “lead” or Senior Engineer

•With assistance from Manager, define design and development budget
•Adherence to design and development budget
•Direct, guide, coordinate, and provide technical expertise in the development of product designs that meet or exceed customer expectations/requirements
•Maintain and build customer intimacy across functions (engineering, research and development, supplier quality, NVH, vehicle testing, core teams, etc.) and hierarchy levels and ensure proper management of the ITW AFM image
•Technical representative responsible for leading product design based on customer inputs and/or requirements
•Perform product design analysis, inspect and diagnose post test/field return ITW components and issue subject reports to customer technical representatives
•Ensure the voice of the customer is well documented and communicated
•Negotiate and gain acceptance of customer DVP&R and schedule to ensure ITW component functionality and compliance
•Support ITW purchasing and strategic sourcing initiatives by actively contributing to the management of sub suppliers to ITW manufacturing facilities
•Actively participate in innovation project idea generation as well as proof of concept initiatives
•Lead technical presentations in support of innovation and/or in support of new business development
•Lead VA/VE activities to ensure implementation per plan
•In conjunction with Innovation Engineer, develop/test prototype or printed part, including evaluation of same
