Mechanical Designer Sterling Heights, MI Full-time Contract SUMMARY - Mechanical Designer liMechanical Designer plans schedules, manages and follows the design on projects assigned/li liDevelops new product as well as existing products engineering deliverables/li liEvaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability while working with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner/li liHas knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the mechanical engineering field as it relates to assembly and test systems/li liWorks under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job/li liOccasionally will be assigned and expected to manage Designer/s to assist with large project/li /ul RESPONSIBILITIES - Mechanical Designer liManage, follow-up, and perform all phases of design on projects assigned in accordance withEngineering Department Procedures/li liProvide appropriate support to Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production Control Department to assure all projects will achieve timing and budgets./li liAlways have an up to date understanding of timing and budgeted hours for assigned projects/li liPerform comparative analysis of designs and drawings, to ensure conformances to company and customer standards specifications, and good engineering practices/li liPerform and/or evaluate simulations (FEA, Robot, etc.) to enhance design/li liAdvanced understanding and utilization of GDT/li liDemonstrate ability to produce test and/or assembly machine layouts using NX, SW, AutoCAD or similar CAE software/li liAdvanced knowledge with recent software such as: liMicrosoft Word, Excel, and Windows XP or higher/li liPLM; Team Center/li /ul /li li Ensure that designs and all purchased components and parts will function and perform their intended task in the environment in which they operate for meeting all designated R M requirements and life expectancies based on duty cycles and cycle time/li liPerform field service/checks as required on equipment (domestic)/li liGenerate machine and/or system detailed sequence of operation with cycle times and cylinder sizes, motor sizes, etc/li liOversee and mentor designers assigned to assist with large design projects/li liCollaborate with all other departments and engineering groups as required to complete assigned projects/li liFollowdesign and CAD guidelines with all assigned projects/li liMaintain/follow clean data management practices with all assigned projects/li liParticipate in reviews of assigned projects/li liOther duties as assigned/li /ul REQUIREMENTS - Mechanical Designer liPrepare actual designs using NX/Solidworks CAD software and have the ability to read and interpret blueprints/li liProficient with recent software such as liNX, Solidworks, Autodesk/li liPLM Team Center/li liVisio/li liJIRA/li liMicrosoft Word, Excel, and Windows XP or higher/li /ul /li li2-5 yearsrsquo; experience in related field required or equivalent amount of education and/or experience in related field/li li2-5 yearsrsquo; experience in mechanical design relating to the automotive powertrain industry/li liuPreferredlt
