uRequired:/u A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years clerical experience, which includes six months of word processing experience. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Must pass security background check. Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute net is required. uNote:/u Please contact Personnel to schedule a typing test if you have not taken one before with our office. Your application will not be forwarded until you have taken and successfully passed the typing test at the net speed required for the position.uSpecial Requirements/u: Must be able to achieve and maintain LEIN certification.uDuties:/u Oversees the records functions of the support Services Division; pulls files as requested and re-files according to established standards and procedures. Reviews closed files as scheduled and open files on a random monthly basis to ensure established format, criteria and standards are met; documents discrepancies to enforce standards and ensure compliance. Coordinates a staff of clerical support personnel; oversees daily workload; monitors work to ensure consistency. Runs computer data file clean-up program and corrects related errors for reporting consistency. Coordinates and supervises the training of all new employees in the Records Bureau. Receives, compiles and processes information; updates records and files such as police reports, criminal files, and gun registrations. Accurately prepares required records and reports. Assists the public in person or by telephone; provides information on appropriate departmental regulation(s), policies, and procedures. Performs firearm inspections for registration purposes. Performs LEIN Queries. Fingerprints the public for various required applications. Coordinates the filing of fingerprint cards. Collects fees for services provided. Assists public in completing appropriate requested forms. Performs related clerical tasks such as typing letters, police reports, envelopes and bonds, document filing, microfilm stuffing, checking computer printouts, data entry and processing of department paperwork. Operates a variety of office equipment such as typewriter, network computer including work processing, video mugshot, LEIN interface, gun registration, mainframe, and e-mail software, micro-processing transcriber, printer, duplicating, facsimile, an d microfilm readerrinter and stuffing machines in the performance of job duties. Arranges for record retention and disposal. Receives and processes departmental mail. Completes special projects or assignments as requested by Captain of Support Services. Maintains confidentiality of information, reports and files in department. Assists in the evaluation of subordinate personnel.
