We are currently seeking an Electro Mechanical Technician at our St Charles, MI facility. These team members at Porex are responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment, in addition to problem solve manufacturing and supporting processes.

  • Basic ladder logic programming and troubleshooting (Horner OCS, Rockwell preferred). Ability to create simple programs for the recording/displaying of information as well as ability to troubleshoot and diagnose faults within existing code.

  • Licensed Electrician/Industrial wiring capabilities (480 3ph, high current)

  • Sensor integration into existing equipment (analog/digital/quadrature/high speed counters)

  • Basic wiring – small panel builds incorporating transformers, HMI panels, field wiring/installation of sensors, etc.

  • Install, maintain, inspect, and initiate repairs and correction of machinery and equipment.

  • Maintain and repair the physical infrastructure of the facility.

  • Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, electrical and electronic components of automated machinery.

  • Locate parts and prices to effect repairs, complete required forms for purchases.

  • Use the National Electrical Code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.

  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machinery and associated equipment.

  • Operate a cutting torch and or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Various Saws, drills, bench tools and hand tools.

  • Diligent in observations and inspections in the site machinery and facility and to make recommendations for changes in procedures and structures, to ensure proper safety, increase productivity and general effectiveness within our organization.

  • Work closely with supervision and management and demonstrate the ability to be a team leader.

  • Maintain work area in clean, safe, and orderly manner.

  • Safety: Support implementation of the loss control improvement process by compliance with critical safety rules. Visibly demonstrate that safety is a value by following safety procedures, maintaining a safe workplace and complying with safety rules. Develop equipment, processes and products that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Actively participate in achieving organization and personal safety objectives. Follow the Safety Roles and Responsibilities Matrix by holding yourself and all team members accountable.

  • Minimum HS Diploma/GED; state licensed Journeyman is a plus.

  • Previous experience with polyurethane foam systems and manufacturing highly preferred.

  • Previous experience with Lean and Six Sigma a plus

  • Previous Operational Leadership a plus

  • Authorized to work in the US (no sponsorships)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Minimum four years' experience as an industrial electrician.

  • Occasional, and at sometimes heavy, overtime and extended hours are required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with minimal supervision

  • Proficient in computer usage; manufacturing systems
