uJOB CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE:/u Department of Public Works emHighway Maintenance Worker I/em - AFSCME Grade: H-40 (salary range: $18.11 - $22.20 per hour) emHighway Maintenance Worker/em - AFSCME Grade: H-39 (salary range: $12.70 - $16.79 per hour) Excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, defined benefit pension; holidays, vacation, and more. uREPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES/u liResponsible for various maintenance tasks in carpentry and general maintenance and construction work./li liPerforms a combination of the following duties: erecting repairing guard rails, highway markers and snow fences, using hand tools, nails, and power tools./li liSeasonal responsibilities for designated road and neighborhood side street snow removal./li liWorks on road grading, mowing crews, cement, asphalt and ditching crews./li liAdheres to all safety standards for the operation and maintenance of all City owned equipment./li liHauls various materials and picks up refuse including dirt, debris, trash and dead animals. Other duties as assigned./li /ul uJOB REQUIREMENTS ndash; AS DETERMINED BY THE CITY OF SOUTHFIELD/u uGeneral Requirements for both positions/u liMust be high school graduate or equivalent./li liMust possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record and possess a Commercial Driver's License with Class B (with air brakes) endorsement upon hire or within 6 months of appointment. Employees who fail to obtain CDL as stated will be subject to termination./li liAbility to perform outdoor manual labor under all weather conditions.
