Work Schedule - M-F 9a-1p. The candidate will need be able to cover PTO up to 40 hours.

Position Overview

The Mail Room Clerk receives at Ann Arbor hospital, sorts and distributes incoming US Mail for Hospital Departments & Patients according to established procedures and schedules. Receives and collects and posts all outgoing US Mail using automated equipment. Sorts & distributes internal memorandums and other printed material at the request of Health Center departments. Responsible for charging of Mail expense to all uses.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Provides functional supervision of clerical and material transport staff assigned to sorting and distribution Mail and other printed material. Establishes internal collection and distribution schedule for Mail. Receives sorts and distributes incoming US Mail and other printed material throughout the hospital. Collects post and prepares all outgoing Mail for delivery. Receives sorts and delivers patient Mail and other Mail addressed to the hospital staff members Operates and maintains automatic mailing equipment and postage meter. Maintains a good rapport and cooperative relationships, approaches conflicts in a constructive manner helps to identify problems offer solutions and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees and visitors to Saint Joseph's Mercy Hospital. Discusses patient information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties.

Education experience and licensure

Education:

Requires basic skills in reading writing and arithmetic

Experience 6 to 12 months related experience

Ability to walk and stand for approximately 80% of work time and to lift mail trays weighing in excess of 35 pounds in the safest possible manner.
