CMU Medical Education Partners Surgical Scheduler - Surgery Department in Saginaw, Michigan
The Scheduler is responsible for making appointments for Clinical and Endo procedures for the Department of Surgery.
Prolonged sitting, computer work and telephone operations. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Distracting, active office environment.
Accept and review all incoming referrals.
Schedules appointments for patients.
Uses Epic computerized system to match appropriate provider’s availability.
Maintains scheduling system for accuracy in analyzing patients/staffing patterns.
Ensures that updates, cancellations or additions are input daily into master schedules.
Communicates as needed with providers and other staff about any concerns/issues related to scheduling.
Communicates with outside facilities, hospitals and physicians offices.
Confirmation of insurance coverage.
Ensures completion of assessment for advance directive, including DNR when applicable.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that organizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists other members of the department as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of high school degree and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling
Familiarity with EMR system
Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff and other healthcare professionals
Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential
