Nexteer Automotive Indirect Material Buyer (2018) in Saginaw, Michigan
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procure IT hardware, software, telecommunications and Engineering Service requirements
Establish effective working relationships with Nexteer’s IT and Engineering organizations
Procurement activities will also include outside services as required.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships across all internal Nexteer functions.
Develops and executes optimal sourcing strategies.
Selects best-in-class suppliers.
Monitors and assesses supplier performance and advises management of issues.
Adheres to all purchasing policies and procedures.
Negotiates pricing and contractual terms to meet or exceed savings goals.
Drives cost-reduction activities throughout the supply base.
Lead a cross functional team to achieve objectives.
Utilize market intelligence or other benchmarking tools to validate prices and services.
Lead supplier performance reviews and perform periodic supplier visits.
Daily work activities include but not limited to: Processing purchase orders, reviewing supplier quotes, issuing requests for quotes, supplier follow-up, supplier issue resolution, cost savings activities and attending meetings.
Candidate must be willing to travel.
Degree: Bachelor (Master preferred)
Major: Various (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, IT)
3 or more years of commercial negotiation experience within the Automotive sector preferred
2 or more years of relevant IT experience related to software design, IT procurement of goods and services and Outside Engineering Services preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Knowledge of Indirect procurement (preferred)
Demonstrates integrity and excellence in behaviors and actions
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
Knowledge of purchasing systems (preferred)
Ability to mediate disputes between suppliers and Nexteer
Speaking & Listening: Communicating with work team and suppliers
Sitting: The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to walk from building to building and stand for periods of time
Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
