High School diploma or equivalent combination of years and experience. The Volunteer Coordinator is an intuitive and motivated individual with strong and effective communication skills who can anticipate the needs of visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Basic computer competency including Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Experience volunteering and/or working in a museum or similar institution.
Experience managing volunteers and staff members.
Familiar with managing a budget.
Responsible for recruitment of volunteers, volunteer retention, and the administration and appreciation of the museum’s volunteer program. Lead for annual summer and Holiday Walk volunteer appreciation events
Maintain strong relationship with volunteers through effective regular communication.
Provide all visitors with excellent customer service
Interview prospective museum guides and admission clerks and make recommendations on seasonal requirements, staff schedules, and assignments.
Service as liaison between volunteers and Visitor services Manager
Assist with the scheduling and supervision of volunteers and docents.
Supervises docent volunteer and paid docent staff.
Compile statistics regarding volunteer participation.
Work closely with Director of Curatorial Services and Visitor Services Manager for docent orientation, training, and ongoing education/development of docent staff.
Monitor annual volunteer budget to ensure revenue budget met or exceeded and expense budget not exceeded.
