What You Will Do

SCHEDULE: FT Days - 8:00-AM - 4:30PM

As an Associate with Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, you will have the opportunity to supportthe Mission and Vision of Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital by participating in cardiovascular procedures, under general supervision, in accordance with established departmental protocols. Charged with patient responsibilities while the patient is in the department.

You will:

  • Essential Functions

  • Recognizethe quality of the diagnostic services and the patient's well being as the primary responsibilities of the Special Procedures Radiographer.

  • Prepareand stockwork area as required to perform procedures as assigned/requested. Assurea safe and clean environment for patients at all times.

  • Assurethe identification of all patients before proceeding with the requested examination. Explainthe procedure to the patients before and during as required.

  • Transferand properly positionpatients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician orders and in accordance with departmental protocols. Conductall examinations safely in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

  • Operateradiographic, CD and digital equipment to produce optimal original and duplicate angiograms.

  • Assist physicians at table side in extended limited scrub duties including: setting up sterile instrumentation; assisting in exchange of guide wires and catheters; suturing intra-vascular sheaths.

  • Preparepower injector and assures correct contrast media and correct flow rates.

  • Orientand teach all new Special Procedures R.T.'s.

  • Verifycorrect coding and charges for all non-cardiac interventional procedures.

  • Maintain computerized service logs on radiographic equipment and reports questionable conditions to immediate supervisor/manager.

  • Report equipment failure to supervisor and takes appropriate actions.

  • Performancillary clinical functions such as venous puncture and I.V. contrast administration, if necessary.

  • Non-Essential Functions

  • Participatein quality assurance activities and any data collections required by the department.

  • Adhereto prescribed standards for radiation safety.

  • Serveon specific committees dealing with the use of radiation as requested.

  • Assistin the development of technical factors and the selection of radiographic film, if necessary.

  • Promotea positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.

  • Demonstrateand actively promotean understanding and commitment to the mission through performing behaviors consistent with the Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.

  • This position requires the ability to identify age related differences within the persons served and the adjustment of treatment style and expectations as appropriate, including adjustments based on the person's served cognitive function and learning ability. This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.

What You Will Need


  • Required Credential(s):

  • Possess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at time of hire/transfer date required.

  • Possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire/transfer date required.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology and current registry at time of hire/transfer date required.


  • HS or Equivalent

  • High School Graduate required.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year post-graduate experience in Special Procedures and a demonstrated excellence in anatomical positioning and attention to detail required. Current Interventional Cardiovascular Cath Lab experience, including scrubbing in cases required.
