Memorial Health Care Center Self-Pay Receivables Manager in Owosso, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Director, Revenue Cycle is responsible for oversight of all patient facing financial processes ensuring patients experience an efficient and exceptional financial experience. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides management and oversight of daily business office operations that relate to the collection of self- pay receivables.

  • Provides oversight, education, training and monitoring of point of service collection processes across the health system.

  • Responsible for the oversight of the daily deposit of all monies received into the business office.

  • Responsible for all customer service training and education for all patients facing revenue cycle staff.

  • Responsible for the oversight of all processes related to the production of patient statements.

  • Manages all aspects of the collection process including compliance with the IRS 501r regulations.

  • Responsible for the oversight of all financial counseling staff and activities across the health system including the Medicaid application process.

  • Manages the filing of estates and bankruptcy notices within the business office.

  • Responsible for all vendor relationships and contracts related to the collection of self-pay receivables.

  • Provides guidance, coaching, counseling and disciplinary action when needed to direct reports.

  • Works collaboratively with revenue cycle leaders to implement best practices and improve overall revenue cycle performance.

  • Oversees the development, enhancement and on-going education for all direct reports and other internal staff as it relates to the collection of self-pay receivables.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Associates degree in finance, accounting, business or healthcare administration required; Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.

  • Certification of Certified Revenue cycle representative (HFMA) is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Three to five years of experience managing the self-pay receivables process is required.

  • Experience with managing financial counseling, point of service collections and external vendor relationships related to self-pay receivables is highly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of hospital billing systems and practice management systems is required.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS

  • Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.

  • Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).

  • Proficiently using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
