Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering, beginning August 2019 The School of Engineering & Technology at Central Michigan University (CMU) seeks an experienced and dynamic individual for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in the newly established environmental engineering program. The appointment will begin fall semester, 2019.
Required Responsibilities: 1. Establish (or collaborate with existing faculty) a vigorous, externally funded research program and publish scholarship in competitive refereed journals. This includes applying for external funding to support teaching, research and professional service and supervising undergraduate and graduate student research. 2. Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in environmental engineering. 3. Participate and be actively involved in the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) program. 4. Be actively engaged in advising, professional development and service activities. Professional activities include participating in meetings, workshops establishing appropriate relationships with industry, government, and other relevant entities. 5. Participate in activities related to EAC/ABET accreditation of the Environmental Engineering program. 6. Advise senior project teams in environmental engineering-related fields.
- Ph.D. in environmental, or other closely related, engineering field; ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is assured before duties commence.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to and potential for research that attracts external funding and leads to publications in competitive peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in environmental engineering.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- An undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering.
- Ph.D. with academic experience in environmental engineering.
- Previous teaching experience at the university level.
- Relevant industrial or government experience.

About the Department: The School of Engineering and Technology currently offers three ABET accredited engineering programs in computer engineering (BSCE), electrical engineering (BSEE), and mechanical engineering (BSME). The School of Engineering and Technology presently has 25 full-time faculty members and also offers undergraduate majors in industrial, mechanical and product design engineering technology. The School also has an MS in Engineering program. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000 square foot engineering & technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
