Dow Chemical Sales Service Specialist in Midland, Michigan

Dow Chemical has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Service Specialist/Customer Service Representative in the Midland, MI Customer Service Group for Safety & Construction. This role is unique in that is has both Customer Service and Account Management responsibility. The role will have Customer Service responsibility for a group of key strategic customers as well Customer Service and Account Management responsibilities for a separate group of smaller yet important customers.

Customer Service Primary Responsibilities – All Assigned Accounts:

  • Enters and manages customer orders through Customer Service work processes and systems.

  • Serves as the Account Team lead to improve account management, meet the account plan and team goals.

  • Thorough knowledge of Dow’s products, businesses, applications, and service offerings.

  • Coordinates activity at assigned customer accounts, proactively addresses issues, and applies creativity to develop and implement solutions.

  • Differentiates between customer requirements and Dow capabilities; chooses the best/cost effective solution.

  • Partners with Sales and Marketing to build effective relationships with customers in order to anticipate and deliver expectations.

  • Increase quality of CAMP process through active participation in problem solving.

  • Actively contributes to the business goals, in particular for Customer Service.

  • Understands customer order patterns, and acts on deviations, to the benefit of Supply Chain and the customer.

Account Management Primary Responsibilities – House Accounts:

  • Build relationships up and down the customer organization

  • Work with customer to understand their business and needs to identify potential growth opportunities

  • Determine optimal service model for customer, direct sales, inside sales or distribution

  • Manage Dow’s pricing and profitability at customer

  • Communicating and / or coordinating customer activities including but not limited to Order Management, Sample

  • Management, Payment/Credit Disputes, Pricing, Payment Terms, Forecasting, Account Plan Management, Notifications, etc.

Capabilities of the job:

  • Aptitude for learning new technologies and systems.

  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with designated customers.

  • Understands and follows Order Receipt and Handling work processes.

  • Individual is expected to communicate with others regarding customer issues and problem resolution.

  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes to team goal.

  • Understands financial reporting to interpret customer reports and business results.

  • Expert in root cause investigation to mitigate future customer problems.

  • Thorough knowledge of respective work process and other integrated work processes, technologies, and applications (OR&H, PR&H, Pricing, CAMP, SAP, productivity and e-tools)

  • Ability to work independently in a highly integrated team and communicate well with diverse groups of people across all levels and cultures.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong communication skills

  • Relationship building/ networking

  • High bias for action/ follow-up

  • Negotiations skills

  • Results oriented

  • High ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
