Under the supervision of the Chief Public Defender, the Assistant Public Defender is a trial lawyer position tasked with assisting the Chief Public Defender, serves as an integral part of a team as a counter-part to all state prosecutions. The Assistant Public Defender provides quality legal representation for defendants without financial means to retain legal counsel, after being charged with criminal or civil violations.
