State of Michigan MDOT Lean Methodologies Specialist - Departmental Specialist in Lansing, Michigan

This position serves as the agency-wide expert regarding Lean methodologies and processes utilized by the Performance Excellence Section (PES). This position assists in the development and delivering of a wide variety of PES services such as Lean Process Improvement (LPI), Process Re-engineering, Six Sigma, as well as other services across MDOT. Additionally, this position reviews methodologies utilized by other entities, seeks to ensure the department is utilizing leading-edge LPI techniques and provides training to lower ranking analysts in PES.
These methodologies have similar elements such as value stream mapping of current processes then mapping the future process after revising the overall process to maximize efficiency and eliminating steps which do not add value. Lean may also include specialized methodologies such as Six Sigma which is a statistical approach which relies heavily on quantitative techniques.
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications
Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certain positions may be assigned subclass codes and individuals appointed must possess the required specialized experience.
