Responsibilities

Managing Consultants own client engagements from cultivation to completion. In this role, you will be accountable for the activities of the project team and support the day-to-day management of the client relationship. You are expected to effectively develop and manage work plans, staffing, deadlines and budgets for multiple complex projects simultaneously. Work products are expected to be high-quality and client-ready. In this visible role, you will lead team meetings, and guide, manage, and coach consultants and senior consultants, providing constructive feedback on project participation and overall career development. Managing Consultants work closely with Directors and Managing Directors to keep them abreast of project progress and important developments. Managing Consultants support sales initiatives and practice development.

In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in developing/expanding Healthcare Clinical Documentation Services consulting offerings, including collaboration with other areas of functional expertise and consulting solutions

  • Evaluating existing client operations and identify gaps and/or improvement opportunities

Qualifications

Required

  • BA/BS Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or Clinical Administration

  • 5+ years of revenue cycle management experience focused in clinical documentation improvement and/or clinical integrity

  • 5+ years of management consulting, professional services, and/or project management experience

  • Ability to assess appropriate MS-DRG, 3MTM APR-DRG Severity of Illness (SOI) and Risk of Mortality (ROM) assignment, Hierarchical Condition Category capture (Inpatient and Outpatient)

  • Strong knowledge of core clinical, quality and coding knowledge to perform analysis of client workflows and processes to determine appropriate recommendations to improve clinical documentation, risk adjustment, care coordination and/or quality outcomes measurements

  • Proven track record of demonstrating thought leadership, managing complex projects, building client relationships, mentoring consulting staff and collaborating with others to develop new business

  • Ability to present to large groups, both externally and within the practice

  • History of maintaining updated clinical knowledge and staying abreast of guidelines and regulations affecting Clinical Documentation, Alternative Payment Models, Risk Adjustment, Coding and Quality Fields

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certification is desired

  • Proven success in driving operational process improvement and change management for revenue cycle optimization projects within hospitals and/or health systems

  • Experience having project managed at least one large complex CDI project to successful completion

  • Intermediate to advanced data manipulation and analytical skills using Excel

  • Willingness to travel to client sites across the United States up to 75% (Monday-Thursday every week)
