Job Summary and Description
Adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach courses in Japanese. Depending upon the program’s needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments may be on LCC’s downtown campus, at an extension center (within 40 miles of the downtown campus), and/or via online delivery methods. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi, to deliver course instruction to students and to be available for student assistance and advising outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, professional development activities and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Japanese Studies OR Master's degree in related field (e.g. linguistics, second-language acquisition, language pedagogy) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Japanese from a regionally accredited institution.
Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English.
Must have the ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the online classroom.
- If the candidate is in a PhD program, without having a Master’s degree, then a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Japanese studies is an alternative to the minimum Master’s degree qualifications. The coursework within the graduate hours must reflect competencies in the course(s) to be taught.
- Online Japanese teaching experience at the beginner and intermediate level.
