Samaritas Lead Case Aide - Foster Care - FT - Kalamazoo, MI in Kalamazoo, Michigan
Under the direction of Case Manager Supervisor, provides staff supervision, and coordinates schedules and work activities for Case Aide staff in accordance with applicable contractual and regulatory requirements ad accreditation standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership and support to Case Aides. Lead team meetings and provide initial and on-going training to staff.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable program requirements to ensure effective coordination of daily work schedule for case aides in assigned program. Monitor and adjust work schedule for case aides to meet client needs and service delivery requirements; facilitate scheduling changes in a timely manner. Track Case Aide hours worked to ensure attainment of budgetary and program delivery requirements.
Provide liaison/coordination for foster care Case Managers, supervisor and Case Aides to address daily needs and changes.
Coordinate and provide supervision and transportation for foster children to and from medical appointments or family visits. With assigned case manager, assist with transport for client placements and/or replacements to clinics and other agencies.
Supervise children during appointments either at home, office, or at other appropriate sites.
Observe, document, and report to Case Managers activity related to child, foster, and birth parents in accordance with center and division policy and contract requirements.
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
High School Diploma required.
Associate’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
Two years’ direct experience in a child welfare or related service setting.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both verbally and in writing. Bilingual in the language of persons served.
Strong leadership skills with ability to complete short and long-term goal setting.
Ability to communicate expectations clearly and to effectively utilize a teamwork approach with staff at all levels.
Ability to work in team relationships with other professionals from various community groups, agencies and disciplines.
Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and solve problems; uses de-escalating techniques.
Willingness and ability to demonstrate compassion, non-judgmental attitude, and empathy towards persons served. Ability to deal constructively and appropriately with client.
Ability to be culturally sensitive and relate to multi-problem families
Basic math skills with ability to add, subtract and multiply.
Ability to utilize basic word processing and specific computer software applications.
Additional Work Requirements
May be required to work extended hours.
Unrestricted valid driver’s license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to move freely about.
Ability to lift/carry small children, and restrain older children up to 100 pounds.
Near visual acuity; hand-eye coordination; hand and finger dexterity.
