Job Description
Position functions as the Workforce Development Technician performing community outreach to recruit and fill for the University Region in the following programs: Youth Development and Mentoring Program (YDMP), Transportation and Civil Engineering (TRAC), and Transportation Diversity and Recruitment Program (TDRP). This position also serves as the Y-Achiever liaison, and College and the Career Readiness (C3R) representative for the University Region. As the Workforce Development Technician, the position serves as the spokesperson for the region, performs all levels of coordination, makes budget and planning recommendations, and builds partnerships both within and outside of Michigan.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a high school diploma or a GED Certificate.
ExperienceDepartmental_ Technician 7_
One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing advanced secretarial or supervisory administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 10
Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience performing advanced secretarial or supervisory administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Additional Requirements and Information
All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
