Henry Ford Health System Accounts Receivable Specialist - Townsend Family Medicine - Full Time/Days - Allegiance Health - Jackson, MI in Jackson, Michigan

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for coding follow-up for insurance denials and serves as a partner and liaison for Medical Practice Management (MPM), Health Information Management (HIM), and Patient Financial Services (PFS) staff. This team member provides a variety of bookkeeping, record keeping, reconciliation and report production functions for the department. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for administering patient financial policies and for assisting in the clerical functions of the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:High school diploma or equivalent education. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in health care field such as billing/coding, medical assistant or related experience. Academic preparation and/o or demonstrated practical experience in use of ICD9/10 diagnosis coding, Level I and Level II HCPCs coding, and effective use of Level I and Level II modifiers. Does not require ICD9/10 procedure coding. Knowledge and experience with medical terminology either through educational or work experiences. Ability to review medical records and coding information for compliance with payor coding requirements and industry standards. Effective use of computer systems that support electronic medical records and claims processing. Ability to use spread sheeting software. Data entry skills, strong math, accounting/bookkeeping skills. Detail oriented. Excellent written and verbal communications and strong customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree in healthcare billing and coding. One (1) year of healthcare billing experience. CPC certification or extensive coding experience in a professional setting Extensive experience with various coding requirements of insurance companies, notably Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Shield CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:NONE
