Aspirus Health PATIENT REGISTRATION SPECIALIST in Iron River, Michigan

Aspirus is currently seeking a PATIENT REGISTRATION SPECIALIST to work at Aspirus Iron River Hospital in Iron River, Michigan. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Welcomes patients, visitors, vendors and all individuals entering the hospital/Emergency Department upon their arrival
Alerts the RN/ED staff of patient arrival.
Actively assists individuals by identifying their needs and either directing or escorting them to their destination within the facility when necessary.
Performs computerized registration of patients as directed.
Interacts with patients ranging from childhood age to geriatrics who may be confused or frightened.
Transports patients using wheelchair or assisting with stretcher bound patients within the hospital or from wheelchair into or out of vehicles.
Assists those requiring help with ambulation.
Utilizes basic first aid measures or basic life support (CPR) when patient condition or presentation warrants.
Serves as a liaison between the Emergency Department staff and the families in the waiting area. Directs or escorts visitors to appropriate waiting or treatment areas.
Coordinates customer access to various departments such as medical records or billing in a safe, efficient manner and directs customer accordingly after contact with the department.
Knowledge of office procedures and customer service standards normally obtained through high school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass AIR sponsored First Aid and basic CPR classes within 30 days from date of hire.
Through experience, education, and/or training, is qualified to interact with a wide range of individuals and personalities.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent customer service skills required.
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Hours: This position is part time; 0.7 FTE or 28 hours per week. Day/PM shifts. Part time benefits package available.
Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics is one of four hospitals in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the Aspirus family.
With 300+ employees, Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics serves people through a 25-bed hospital, physician clinics, dialysis center, rehab fitness centers, ambulance service, and home care and hospice. The outpatient part of this practice is located in a stand-alone clinic. This allows the provider to work independently yet have the specialist support and financial security from the entire Aspirus health care system. The critical access hospital has an average daily census of 9-10 patients.
The hospital and clinics provide numerous services and has up to date technology, including a 64 slice CT and a mobile MRI. The medical staff includes family practitioners, internal medicine, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, radiologist, emergency medicine physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Visiting medical staff includes ophthalmologist, oncologist, cardiologist, ENT, podiatrist, and nephrologist.
