GS Engineering Technology Growth Manager in Houghton, Michigan
GS Engineering, a diverse, high tech company located in Michiganrsquo;s Upper Peninsula, seeks a Technology Growth Manager to join their Management Team in Houghton, Michigan.This position will expand our core competencies in key growth areas and oversee internal product development activities. In this role, you will lead the evolution of expertise and infrastructure in areas of advanced technology, and oversee activities related to new product development resulting in successful product launches. This position focuses on realizing subject matter experts in strategic growth areas, implements and advances the product development process for internal projects, and progresses commercialization strategies for our technologies.To be successful in this position, you will work collaboratively with the Management Team to identify needs for technical skills, staffing and infrastructure, align product development with established best practices, contribute to long-term business development initiatives, and serve as a member of the Management Team.COMPENSATION/BENEFITS. Starting salary of $80,000 ndash; $95,000 annually based on knowledge and experience in addition to a comprehensive benefit package including health, dental, vision, health savings account, 401K retirement plan, Employee Stock Ownership Program, cell phone allowance, tuition reimbursement, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and vacation days.RESPONSIBILITIES.Establish core competency in new and advanced technology areas; works with the Business Development Team to identify target growth areas and develop pathways to realize related opportunities:ulliDevelop talent through planning and coordination of technical training for current employees; works with HR to attract external candidates with desired skillsets./liliIdentify and work with partners to fill gaps in current capabilities./liliCoordinate with IT and Facilities staff to plan and implement infrastructure updates, as needed./li/ulOversees Product Development activities from idea generation to commercialization:ulliCoordinate calls for ideas, responses to ad-hoc submittals, and early-phase evaluations and scoring; provide coaching as idea generators develop content for phase-gate reviews./liliLead the maturation of process for later-phases and beyond including:/lilireconcile Product Development process with Project Management best practices;/lilicollaborate with Business Development/Marketing to determine market potential and voice-of-customer;/liliengage key staff to ensure product design and production plans meet internal standards;/lilicoordinate with Management Team for prototyping, evaluation, validation and production launch./li/ulIntegrates SBIR efforts into the Product Development process, reinforcing commercialization potential as a critical success metric. Your efforts will include assisting with initial topic evaluation and down-selection, providing input and working with Project Managers to plan and execute transition to next phase.Serve as Project Manager when needed.Perform supervisory functions (performance reviews, day-to-day management tasks, timecards, etc.) for direct reports.Participate in the support and continual improvement of company Quality Management System and ITAR/EAR compliance regimen.
