Product Engineer I (Inquiry Engineer)

Respond to dealer requests for custom product and developing solutions across a range of products. Research feasibility, develop costs, and document responses for custom product requests. In addition to communicating with dealers, you'll have regular communication with Standard Product Engineering, Product Line Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Suppliers / Vendors.

Responsibilities:

? Respond to custom product requests of moderate complexity from ideas or requirements as presented by dealer, ensuring quality standards are met.

? Analyzes designs for proper form, fit, and function, including basic manufacturability, assembly, disassembly, and use, using CAD tools or calculator, to ensure new designs will meet established quality and performance standards.

? Leverage existing standard product catalog and engineering information to provide ?best approach? to deliver customizations.

? Make initial selection of materials, common or generic parts, and engineering standards for designs, using catalogs, reference books, or other product drawings.

? Prepare cost estimates based on existing standard product costs and new components (made in-house or purchased).

? Prepare test requests, monitor tests, and evaluate test performance to ensure agency and industry standards.

? Contact suppliers or manufacturing groups, via telephone or in person, to obtain information related to fabrication, application of materials and processes, and selection of purchased parts.

Working hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:

  • Must have good knowledge of engineering practices and manufacturing processes.

  • Must be knowledgeable of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) drafting practices, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).

  • Ability to conceptualize multidimensional models on CAD or PC.

  • Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems preferred, particularly with SAP.

Education and Work Experience

? Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline

? CAD or PC design experience required.

? Parametric-based systems CAD or PC design experience preferred.

? Experience working directly with dealers and / or customers (both written and verbal) preferred.

? Estimating and quoting experience preferred.
