*About this Opportunity

As a Market Development Lead - Senior (Network Place), you'll develop and implement tactical programs (e.g., market research, business development activities, outbound marketing, and product development project participation) that support Herman Miller's overall strategy and vertical market approach. You will lead a team that works in a highly collaborative manner with other core business functions using a "platform approach" to programs and vertical markets. You'll also define and build the business case for new capabilities.

  • Conduct activities to enlarge the market opportunity for Herman Miller, drive profitable growth in product and services, protect and enhance the Herman Miller brand, and create the capability, capacity, and commitment in all parts of the value equation to achieve performance metrics.

  • Conduct activities to identify and deliver the appropriate solutions (product, service, knowledge), build and strengthen the channel's capability and capacity to deliver our solutions, and influence appropriate product positioning and merchandising direction.

  • Develop and execute the optimal marketing and vertical market programs.

  • Identify and qualify a network of partners available to participate in the delivery of marketing programs.

  • Manage the Planning and Specification Work Team by determining and maintaining appropriate staffing levels, conducting employee development and performance planning and review, and maintaining a positive employee relations environment.

  • Provide leadership in and serve as lead for cross-functional business teams as required.

  • Serve as an advocate and champion for the programs and vertical market(s) assigned.

  • Work in a collaborative manner with the key functional areas in the broader Herman Miller organization to leverage our existing investments.

  • Manage the product-related planning and specification processes for the appropriate Network Place product lines.

  • Serve as the champion for customer-related product and program requirements.

  • Establish training content for Network Place product lines and participate in the execution as required.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business (an emphasis in Marketing is preferred) or equivalent professional experience. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • Ten years of professional experience in Marketing or Sales, which includes three to five years of managerial and cross-functional team leadership experience.

  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the contract furniture market and distribution channel.

  • Comfortability with high-risk value propositions and the judgment to manage/execute to expected metrics.

  • Proven market analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Well-developed product marketing skills for products with complex decision-making processes, as well as a strong technical marketing background.

  • Excellent communications skills, including listening, assurance, empathy, and interpersonal coaching and mentoring skills.

  • A demonstrated ability to travel 15 to 25 percent of the time.

  • The ability to be a strong team leader with values that align with Herman Miller's corporate values.

  • A demonstrated potential for additional leadership responsibilities and future growth.

  • A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment.

  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
