Job Description:

Dematic Corp. has an immediate opening for an Installation Pre-Commissioning Manager in our Grand Rapids Office.

  • Installation pre-commissioning manager’s activities including staffing and planning of daily and weekly workload in meeting project milestones for semi-complex to complex projects.

  • Identify resource needs to support the mechatronic pre-commissioning project efforts including support of current backlog as well as support for future projected new business.

  • Responsible for all assigned projects, project progress, safety and other required reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Job Family Responsibilities:

  • Supports development of installation pre-commissioning project/program plan.

  • Supports delivery of semi-complex to complex installation project or program.

  • Participates in installation project/program management activities (defining scheduling, budget, risk, change, opportunity and resource management activities).

  • Accurately forecast cost to completion for pre-commissioning activities.

  • Participates in technical review of system design and documentation.

  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the group to ensure a smooth workflow.

  • Successfully helps define work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.

  • Impact of decisions on business operations is direct and moderate.

  • May develop departmental budgets and business plans for functional area.

  • May evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in own area of responsibility

  • Performs work in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols.

  • Identifies resource needs and suggests justification.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves semi-complex to complex problems.


  • Typically Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrates a knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures for supervised work group(s).

  • Demonstrates understanding and application of supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.

  • Typically 3-5 years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

Direction of Others:

  • Typically supervises hourly and/or non-exempt administrative or technical employees.

Key Working Relationships:

Primarily intra-organizational contacts and limited external contacts.
