Position Summary:
Dematic Corp. has an immediate need for an Installation Technical Writer Lead to help supervise the creation of operating instructions, how-to manuals, assembly instructions, and “frequently asked questions” pages to communicate installation procedures to field installers. This position will require 10-15% travel in order to successfully capture actual field installation procedures.
Under the supervision of the Installation Training Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the creation of installation work instructions in various media forms (pictures, videos, written work instructions, etc.) as well as ensuring those instructions are properly posted in a learning management system.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with installation managers and Subject Matter Experts to help determine documentation needs
Communicate priorities to tech writers as assigned by installation management
Prepare templates and basic formats for the various training programs being documented by tech writers
Lead effort of all tech writer to ensure alignment and eliminate the potential for duplicated efforts
Support the effort to create technical documentation and work instructions in various media forms
Ensure tech writers select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
Organize filing and storage of departmental documentation training content
Oversee documentation revisions and communicate revisions to the training manager for distribution to the department when applicable
Education
Typically a Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in the field.
Qualifications
Typically 2+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area leading and knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact.
Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management.
