Meijer Fresh Specialist - Detroit MI in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Currently, Meijer is looking for a Fresh Specialist. Works in collaboration with Regional Vice presidents, Market Directors to train and coach, Store Directors, Lines Leads, and Team leaders to effectively execute Merchandising and Operations standards and best practices in all fresh areas (Produce, Deli/Bakery, and Meat/Seafood). This position works to ensure flawless execution, compliance with Meijer standards and focus on sales and margin enhancement through shrink reduction. Position coordinates merchandising activities within assigned market to achieve appropriate adherence to processes and drive results.

Key Deliverables:

  • Trains and coaches Team Leaders and Line Leaders on standards and best practices to drive sales and fresh shrink improvement.

  • Utilizes and provides product specifications, operational guidelines, and training materials as needed to provide continued development, training, and support to store leadership.

  • Develops collaborative and effective relationships with Store Directors, Team Leaders and Line Leaders to influence successful execution of production planning.

  • Drives execution of production, handling and packaging procedures, maintaining quality product and freshness, reducing potential for loss.

  • Supports Team Leaders with inventory optimization and control through compliance, Food Safety/Sanitation standards, backroom (5S) and sales floor standards and conditions.

  • Utilizes dashboards on a weekly basis, to close gaps on top opportunities.

  • Maintain and execute effective inventory control methods in Fresh departments.

  • Clearly teaches the "why" behind best practices and standards to inspire commitment and consistent execution from store leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 5 years of retail experience, including 2+ years in a store leadership position OR 2+ years in a professional/corporate position

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate even complex information with clarity, both in writing and verbally. Provides appropriate and timely information to key stakeholders and training and information to team and line leaders to do their jobs effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive compliance and profitable sales

  • Deep knowledge of retailing in specific areas of the business including product knowledge, shrink/loss, merchandising strategies and process improvement

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to influence without authority

  • Ability to facilitate to all audiences in a manner which effectively conveys expectations and required action which generates results.

  • Demonstrated ability to use rigorous logic, tools and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; strong analytical ability. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to listen attentively and actively

  • Possess, or can obtain within first 6 months, Food Safety Certification
