The Powertrain Controls Engineer incorporates elements of traditional powertrain calibration with powertrain software development. The successful candidate for this position must be strong in control system calibration as well as experienced in software development, design and coding. The successful candidate will be responsible for system engineering including creating and implementing software modules, software testing, calibration of assigned functions, and creating test software.
Typical Job Responsibilities include:
Setting of control system parameters with respect to energy usage, torque security, emissions, fuel consumption, performance, combustion and diagnostics to reach project requirements.
Optimization according to engineering targets regarding performance, engine/vehicle emissions, start ability, secure operations, and diagnostic functions.
Definition of edrive, engine, and vehicle tests needed to reach customer performance requirements.
Programming (fine tuning) of test programs for optimization under automatic operation.
Evaluation and presentation of powertrain, engine, and vehicle test results.
Verification of engine and vehicle emissions control devices for capability to achieve required emission level.
Support of customer and engineers from other department in propulsion and engine performance related topics.
Provision of prototypes of request of Function Developper(FN-D)
Analysis of specification. Realization program code based on specification with special respect to code efficiency. Reporting of specification errors to Function Developer
Starting of required code reviews and reworking program code based on review results.
Testing of modules
Provision of test program versions if required.
Provision of integration hints to Package Responsible (P-Res)
Serching, localization and fixing of implementation bugs. Provision of bug information
Establishing of reviews as consultant
Must be willing and able to travel up to 12 weeks per year.
BS Degree in Engineering.
1 or more years of experience in edrive or engine controls or powertrain experience (experience can include co-op, internship, professional experience, or experience with Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, SolarCar, FutureCar, EcoCAR or other vehicle).
Degree in ME, EE, CE (Computer Engineering) preferred.
3 or more years edrive or engine controls or powertrain experience (experience can include co-op, internship, professional experience, or experience with Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, SolarCar, FutureCar, EcoCAR or other vehicle).
Strong with electrical, mechanical and software controlled systems.
Experience with data acquisition tools preferred.
Hands-on experience with edrive/engine/electronic system optimizations are a plus.
Vehicle related hobbies are a plus.
