h3Working/Functional Title/h3 Specialty Supervisor Technician h3Position Summary/h3 Oversees and contributes (expected approximately 50% time) to the daily care of animal patients within the Veterinary Medical Center in order to facilitate the service, teaching and research activities of the small animal clinic of the VMC. Supervise, hire and oversee training of veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants; ensure that technical staffing levels are appropriate; manages communication regarding client care; performs duties normally associated with veterinary technician I and II in order to complete necessary work; continues to provide technician support to current service in VMC. h3Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills/h3 Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school with coursework in Veterinary Technology; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in patient care, surgery, drug dosing and sterilization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the State of Michigan, or attainment of such certification within one year of date of employment. h3Desired Qualifications/h3 Supervisory experience and training. h3Required Application Materials/h3 Cover letter and Resume h3Work Hours/h3 General working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday Through Friday, depending on workflow and case load, working hours may vary. h3Summary of Physical Demands/h3 Lifting animal patients into cages and medical equipment; carrying animals between cages and exam tables and gurneys; pushing carts containing animals and equipment to other units. h3Summary of Health Risks/h3 Caring for animals with potential TB and rabies risk; may wear a respirator. h3Bidding eligibility ends on 10/16/18 at 11:55 PM/h3
