h3Position Summary/h3 The primary role of the Advising Specialist is to advise a diverse population of students in enrollment planning, major requirements, degree certification, referrals, and course approvals. Responsibilities also include: liStudent club guidance/li liMinor degree advising/li liInternship placement/li li Event planning and programming/li liCareer development/li liGraduate school preparation/li liManagement of confidential student records/li liParticipation in unit, college, and university level meetings/li /ul The candidate must understand, interpret, and implement academic policies and procedures, and represent the CIS at university events such as admissions, recruiting, and the Academic Orientation Program (AOP) for new first-year and transfer students. The Advising Specialist will teach an undergraduate introduction to interdisciplinary studies course.
