This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to the development and integration of weapons systems for ground combat vehicles. This individual will analyze and develop solutions to complex problems, and independently perform tasks critical to the success of ESA's Ground Combat Systems' team. And will also support substantial proposal and marketing initiatives, and perform research and development work to support long-term strategic objectives of ESA.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include concept development, system trade-off analysis, requirements definition, architecture design, and evaluation of system performance for sensor and fire control systems for land-based armored vehicles. Analytical skills should be complemented by a demonstrated ability to plan and lead system engineering activities. The individual must be able to utilize and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, design tests, and validate performance simulations. The individual will also be directly involved in integration, test and validation activities related to weapon systems, weapons systems components and ground combat vehicles that may take place at our facilities or those of our customers and on test ranges. The individual will interface with internal and external project teams, company personnel and the customer community both in the United States and internationally. Travel, potentially for extended durations, will be required.

The successful candidate is expected to possess the following capabilities:

Requirements Development and Analysis

Systems Architecture Trades

Understanding of imaging sensors, night vision technologies and weapon systems

Familiarity with integration, test and validation of complex systems

Understanding of Systems Engineering tools such as the DOORS requirements management tool.

Experience as the customer/supplier focal point on systems engineering and integration-related efforts.

Ability to work collaboratively with, and to lead, multi-disciplinary engineering teams, some of which may be remotely located.

Outstanding communication and writing skills are required to convey technical ideas to both the customer community and to company personnel.

Experience with large-scale combat vehicle and weapon system design, development and the DoD acquisition process is desirable.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering (SE) or an equivalent engineering / scientific discipline with 3 - 5 years of applicable engineering experience. Master's degree desirable.

Hands-on experience in hardware/software integration of complex systems. Army experience with Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), turrets, etc. is desirable.

Ability to physically work in and around combat vehicles, in confined spaces and in field environments, under various weather conditions. Able to lift heavy items, up to 50 lbs.

Must be willing to travel (up to 25%) domestically and internationally as required.

Proof of US citizenship required and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance Existing clearance is a plus.
