Henry Ford Health System Security Police Officer- Armed - Full Time (Detroit) Afternoon shift in Detroit, Michigan
Under general supervision, monitors HFHS facilities and properties in order to protect persons and property associated with HFHS against injury or loss. Directs visitors, patients and employees to appropriate location(s) and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances. Keeps appropriate persons informed of activities, events and incidents. Summons appropriate assistance as necessary.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patrols HFHS facilities and properties on foot or in a vehicle in a designated patrol area. Observes people, buildings and grounds in order to prevent or detect illegal activities or resultant conditions. Inspects equipment, doors, windows, gates, lights, and other physical security hardware to determine that they are secure and operational.
Responds to emergent situations throughout the HFHS facilities such as alarms, fires, disturbances, accidents, criminal activity, bomb searches and the like. Enforces hospital and security policies and procedures; state and local laws applicable to HFHS and maintains notes on activities, initiates and submits appropriate reports.
Provides a range of services including escort services for employees (including those transporting cash), visitors and patients through HFHS facilities
Reports safety/security hazards including all malfunctioning utilities and report to the appropriate departments.
Assists employees, patients and visitors by providing vehicular road service functions, including, assisting in obtaining wrecker and/or repair services for the “customer”.
Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
One to three (1-3) years of security experience preferred.
Must successfully pass a psychological evaluation.
Annual training and testing requirements must be maintained.
HFH police authority is PA330.
To carry this certification a licensed private security police officer, also referred to as arrest authority security guards, have misdemeanor arrest authority while on active duty, while on HFHS premises and in full uniform.
Therefore, all security officers and security police officers must carry the appropriate licensure, and all of the employees that have the arrest authority must meet minimum requirements related to age, security or law enforcement experience, as well as a suitable background which includes the absence of any felony conviction and specific misdemeanor convictions.
P.A. 330 Certification required within 12 months of starting role.
Valid, unexpired Concealed Pistol License. Maintain a valid, unexpired Michigan operator's license. Must satisfactorily complete state minimum training certification requirements and required testing.
