Internal Medicine – B1
Internal Medicine is a 20-bed unit with a patient population composed of complex adult medical patients. Common diagnoses are diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, heart failure, pneumonia, chronic pulmonary disorders and liver disease. The unit’s mission is to provide compassionate quality care focusing on the unique needs of patients and their families. Nurses participate in progression rounds daily where the interprofessional team discusses patient discharge plans and formulates optimal care decisions. They also perform IPASS + SAFETY bedside handoff on all patients during shift changes allowing the opportunity for patient involvement. The team regularly works on improving the safety of patients and the quality of care.
• Position: 36 hours per week / every other weekend after unit training
• Shift: Midnights 7 pm to 7:30 am
• Benefits: Full time benefit package
• Patient ratio is 4 to 5 patients on days and 5 to 6 patients on nights
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
