Job Summary
Research and Development/Quality Assurance 2020 Summer Intern
The intern will work closely with a mentor while supporting the R&D/QA team on daily assignments or projects. Little Caesar Enterprises is looking for a strong, self-motivated individual to work with/assist the R&D/QA Team with the following:
Assist with testing new products, ingredients, equipment and packaging
Assist with sensory testing by preparing ingredients or finished products according to instructions and assist in the documentation of results.
Conduct temperature studies, document and report findings
Coordinate and prepare products for reviews with other departments within the organization.
Use standard analysis methods to conduct the evaluations of ingredients, finished products, equipment and packaging.
Assist with specification database improvements and/or specification migration project as needed.
Learn about other food manufacturing facilities by accompanying QA team members to visit local/in state suppliers.
Assist with testing in store locations.
Document all work according to established procedures.
Conduct literature research as needed for projects and presentations.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Junior Level class or above and actively enrolled in food science or related major
Minimum overall GPA 3.0
Good organizational and analytical/reasoning skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate PC skills (familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently
Ability to function in a team environment, supporting team members when needed
Ability to work independently completing projects within determined timelines
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong mathematical skills including algebra, percentage, fractions and word problems
Experience with Lab testing equipment
Knowledge in nutrition and food labeling laws
Familiarity with SharePoint
Work Conditions:
This position requires the ability to lift and carry ingredients and packages (up to 50 lbs.)
Works in a normal office environment, test kitchen and lab.
