Materials Manager
job summary:
Growing manufacturer in the Detroit, MI area is seeking a Materials Manager to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university and experience in materials/logistics flow analysis and supply management with emphasis in Materials Management. Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing required.
All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

responsibilities:
The Logistics/Materials Manager is responsible for the management of material, transportation and inventory needs of the plant
In charge of meeting monthly goals and analyzing the performance of each measurable, while administering the department in an efficient manner
Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and be able to supervise people
Establish the data base parameters for Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and related production software systems.
Establish and maintain business practices, procedures and documentation that ensure control of supplier releases, incoming material shipments, receiving documents, inventory levels, material storage and movement and shipments to the customer.
Minimize inventory levels on balance out parts
Monitor and measure supplier performance
Manage the data and maintain the Bill of Material Database
Establish goals and action plans for continued reduction in the cost of transportation, package handling, piece price and inventory levels
Manage and monitor the activities of subordinates accuracy and integrity of all materials
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required
Supply management/materials management experience in manufacturing
Previous automotive manufacturing experience
Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
Familiar with part sequencing, kiting, bar coding and importance of safe material handling
