Henry Ford Health System Manager - Pay for Performance & Registries in Detroit, Michigan
GENERAL SUMMARY: In collaboration with local leadership at each business unit, ensures that HFHS is collecting data, reporting, and improving practice at a high-quality level as well as getting the maximum benefit out of each pay for performance and patient registry initiative in which HFHS has chosen to participate. This includes making sure project team members complete their responsibilities, participants complete all necessary activities, and that the required improvements happen. In addition, this person will ensure that expenses and revenues are routed to the correct centers and accounts. This manager will also evaluate future collaboratives that may be offered and provide guidance in the decision to participate or not participate. Annual dollars at risk to HFHS for BCBS Clinical Quality Initiatives (CQI) in 2012 was $4 million dollars. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages participation in each CQI project and coordinates the efforts of HFHS staff including HMS, Cardiology, NSQIP/MSCQ program, etc.Identify best practices and staff structure for each CQI team; help team problem solve and implement processes.Help team document protocols, submit IRB applications, and set up data use agreements or related contracts.Oversee daily operations of patient recruitment, patient retention, patient tracking, data collection and quality reviews, data submission, and timeline adherence.Hold meetings with abstraction staff to discuss abstraction issues and resolve issues.Ensure each CQI team is meeting project performance measures as established by the Data Coordinating Center and Funder and which directly determines incentive amounts.Documents and tracks the improvements on which each collaborative is working.Keeps track of non-Core Measures abstraction process and timeliness.Partners with CQI staff to attend some quarterly meetings to increase knowledge and awareness of collaborative.Provides project status and summary data from the reports provided by the collaborative on a periodic basis.Proactively reviews findings and gaps in performance regularly with System. leadership team (e.g. SQF, P4P team),BU leadership and CQI team representatives, as appropriate, to develop strategies to close the gaps in order to improve quality and maximize outcomes and reimbursement.Tracks receipt and distribution of reimbursement incentives and System funds related to CQI projects.Tracks contract and payroll expenses related to CQI projects and optimizes use of staffEncourages CQI project teams with good results to participate in Quality Expo and other sharing opportunities.Assists teams in making the conversion to Epic and facilitates abstraction efficiency opportunities.Assesses new and existing programs to make recommendations on participation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree with a health care, science or business focus and strong technical computer knowledge or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science with strong health care experience.Five to seven (5-7) years of progressively more responsible work experience in quality and safety, clinical process improvement, or other project management experience.Expert in the use of Microsoft Office products – Excel, Access, PowerPoint, WordFacile in the use of electronic medical records.Knowledgeable in process improvement methods.Knowledgeable in reading financial reports.Professional affiliations encouraged but not required.Overview Henry Ford Health System, one of the largest and most comprehensive integrated U.S. health care systems, is a national leader in clinical care, research and education.
