GENERAL SUMMARY:Under general supervision, demonstrates ability to handle nursing problems and, in general, an expanded group of nursing practices. Performs nursing intervention across a variety of nursing situations. Identifies patient problems prior to explicit changes in patient-specific data collection (such as vital signs). PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides individualized, short and long term outcomes directed nursing care to patients and families through the nursing processConducts an initial and ongoing assessment of the patient and family health status, focusing on patient needs.Performs a comprehensive assessment that includes current and potential nursing needs during hospitalizationSelects nursing diagnosis and collaborative problems that accurately reflects the patient current needsDevelops and revises the plan of care based on shift assessment and projected future needsIntegrates, coordinates, and prioritizes patient needs with other health care personnel, the patient and familyPerforms nursing interventions to accomplish short and long-term patient outcomesIf there are difficulties implementing the plan of care, seeks out appropriate resources and develops creative solutions to accomplish positive outcomesEvaluates progress to short and long-term outcomesRevises nursing diagnosis and collaborative problems to reflect changes in patient/family needFollows all relevant Hospital clinical guidelines and policies

Education/Credentials:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.Current BLS and ACLS Experience/Qualifications:2 years of RN experience in the ICU and demonstrated level of performance and practice is required.Must have ICU experience at the bedside within the past six months.Willingness to work in ICU on nightsClinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
