Directs quality assurance for the nutrition support department by coordinating activities associated with JCO, data collection, medical nutrition policies and procedures and other quality measures. Assist dieticians, nurses, pharmacists and physicians with all aspects of nutrient support and coordinates nutrition support activities for the system. Provides system leadership in the nutrition support area of inpatient, outpatient, community medical and nutrition education, research and reimbursement. Manages comprehensive care to patients undergoing nutrition therapy utilizing the nursing process. Collaborates and coordinates with other allied health professionals to provide educational programs to promote nutrition excellence. Maintains strong alliance with Department of Nursing through formal nursing meetings and informal contacts.Minimum Job Qualifications:•Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Certified Nutrition Support Nurse (CNSN) and /or certification pending.•Experience: 2 years of experience as a staff nurse and 1-2 years of experience as an Intravenous Therapy Team nurse with working knowledge of Central Venous Access Devices. Active in related professional organizations.•Licensure: Current RN license in the State of Michigan•Skills Abilities: Ability to accurately calculate parenteral and enteral orders. Interpret lab values and their indication for modifying nutrition support. Knowledge of appropriate feeding modalities and nutrient supplementation is necessary. Ability to conduct physical/clinical nutrition assessments and recommend intervention and treatment plans. Possesses quality improvement and research skills for CQI and clinical monitoring.
