The Auto Club Group (ACG) provides membership, travel, insurance and financial services offerings to approximately 9 million members and customers across 11 states and 2 U.S. territories through the AAA, Meemic and Fremont brands. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (details of the basic job functions):

This position is responsible for establishing and executing data management and governance process and practices. Establish policies and procedures for data operations, working closely with Data Ops and Research and Analytics as well as Information Security areas. Deliver strategic initiatives to master critical data including Customer, Product, Agent and Householding. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to establish enterprise as well as business views of data relationships. Support project execution of Data Ops projects as necessary.

Participates in long term strategy planning and provides the perspective of an acknowledged expert or specialist on matters related to corporate policy, major/complex problems, and issues having company-wide impact. Work with business-line information management owners and champions to deliver and standardize information management practices across the enterprise.

Monitors budget to actual to ensure achieving operating objectives and department financial goals. Participates in the process of selecting, hiring, mentoring, training, and developing assigned staff. Ensures senior management is apprised of status of initiatives, as well as escalates issues for resolution.

Directly and indirectly, technical professional and/or support personnel who may be distributed in one or more physical locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an insurance environment or other service industry.

  • Mainframe design and development

  • Web development & support

  • Relation databases (e.g., DB2)

  • Data integration tools (e.g. Informatica)

  • Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Oracle BI)

  • Database management systems (e.g., IMS/DB) or file access methods

Work Environment:

Works in a temperature controlled office environment.

Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify):

Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field and/or related technology certification.

Experience:

  • Leadership and decision making

  • Project planning and project management oversight to multiple project managers

  • Managing multiple information management projects across business intelligence and data integration

  • Execution of information management strategy as well as enforcing IM standards and principles in the sub areas such as data integration and business intelligence

  • Preparing business plans, value propositions, value charters, and proposals for corporate-wide initiatives

  • Budget and expense control

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Multi-platform capability (e.g., web, client/server, mainframe, minicomputer)

  • Data management, business intelligence and data integration

  • Distributed computing/network principles

  • Information engineering

  • Business process re-engineering concepts, methods, tools, and techniques

  • Internal controls

  • Total quality control processes and quality problem solving tools

  • Project management tools and techniques

  • Enterprise-wide technology planning issues

  • Develop and negotiate contracts with vendors

  • Effectively motivate team members to achieve high quality results

  • Oversee a variety of concurrent activities

  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively about complex technical, or sensitive topics

  • Communicate with senior leadership regarding project updates as well as issues that need escalation.
