What you will be able to do

You will make key contributions to our advanced development of sensors, ECUs, models and software. You will leverage your passion and expertise in feature development to create such next-generation concepts as pre-collision assist/automatic emergency braking that are coordinated into a central ADAS ECU. This could also involve other elements of the process because we are seeking to add high quality people to the team rather than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role. You will:

  • Understand the design of the Pre-Collision Assist/Automatic Emergency Braking feature code in the ADAS ECU

  • Collaborate with the module teams (e.g. ABS, PCM, IPC, AHU, etc.) to ensure system level function and requirements are met

  • Help develop Feature specifications, FMEAs, robustness disciplines and DVP

  • Support model peer reviews of existing, modified and future feature model

  • Lead/Support development of test methods to evaluate true positive, false positive and real world performance criteria

  • Determine acceptance criteria for design verification test methods

  • Lead development and sign-off of Feature Level performance

  • Operate and utilize Active Safety test rigs (e.g. robotic platforms for surrogate collision targets, host vehicle robots, etc.)

  • Root cause feature level, systems and interface issues in feature development and sign-off

  • Work with the larger team to fix issues for production

  • Lead the development of Matlab scripts/tools/GUIs used in prost processing and analyzing feature performance

  • Support root cause analysis of feature issues using algorithm simulation in the loop tools

  • Lead/support feature calibration to support overall performance requirements

  • Work with the Ford Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Team to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependencies on vehicle level testing

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

  • 6+ months of experience with control algorithm development using Matlab and/or Simulink (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)

  • 6+ months of experience with applications engineering for active safety systems (e.g. ACC, AEB, LKA, TJA Collision Avoidance, Anti-Lock Braking, Yaw Stability Control, Pre-Activated Restraint Systems, etc.) (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)

Our preferred requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

  • Familiar with Active Safety test rigs, robotic platforms, host vehicle robots, etc.

  • Experience with radar/camera or LIDAR or feature model integration or software development

  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design

  • Code writing within Matlab

  • Design and development of radar, image processing or similar digital signal processing applications

  • Modeling/analyzing/simulating radar and/or vision and/or Lidar sensor performance

  • Developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests

  • Data collection and analysis of Active Safety sensor systems

  • Writing vehicle, system and component specifications

  • Synthesis of SDS, FMEA, DVP, DVM for sophisticated projects in chassis control or active safety
