Munson Healthcare Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Charlevoix, Michigan


High school graduate or equivalent; completion of an AMA approved course in Radiologic Technology, either in a hospital or college based school of Radiologic Technology. Must have passed the examination of the American Registry of Radiologic and Nuclear Technologists and remain in good standing. Previous experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred but not required.


Is responsible for the care of those patients assigned to him/her from the time the patient arrives until they leave. Must be courteous, tactful and discreet in handling patients, with quality care and patient safety of the first concern. Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired Nuclear Medicine specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and loads proper film cassettes. Has film developed either by darkroom personnel or self, as required. Is responsible for producing acceptable quality Nuclear Medicine scans as determined by the Radiologist. Is responsible for preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients under the direction of a radiologist, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures and other related duties as required. Is responsible for the care of the nuclear medicine room assigned and if unassigned, to those duties and responsibilities relating to his/her reassignment. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room stock. Reports Nuclear Medicine equipment failure to service engineer using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records. Responsible for equipment calibration and radioisotope assay operation. Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety. Maintains adequate records of radioisotope receipts use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal guidelines. May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught. Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary. Performs on call duty. Maintains professional appearance by adhering to Dress policy of the hospital and Radiology Department. Takes advantage of opportunities for continuing education as provided by the department or seminars available for the various specialties. Handles equipment in responsible, professional manner. If unable to report to work as assigned, must notify the appropriate person(s) and/or Technical Manager. Is responsible for all other duties as may be assigned.
