Montway Inc Operations Manager/Director in Canton, Michigan

We are on the lookout for an exceptional Director of Operations who will help shape our carrier relations and will be responsible for cultivating and growing our carrier base, developing long term relationships, building market knowledge, driver satisfaction, and retention within our industry lines of business. This individual is extremely strategic, analytical, results-driven, and a striver. Reporting directly to the EVP the ideal candidate is also collaborative, driven, equipped with the ?gift of the gab? and has an exceptional eye for detail.

You Do:

  • Lead/Manage B2B operations. (Operations setup is global)

  • Identify gaps in knowledge and skills and create/implement plans for development through appropriate training

  • Develop efficient dispatching team to maximize profits, and succession plans based upon long-term objectives to ensure proper staffing and resources of the team

  • Provide training of assigned staff through active recruitment, training, and quality management activities in conjunction with Human Resources

  • Collaborate with the executive team to ensure the department is meeting expectations; Supervise and control all department activities

  • Develop key reporting for operational efficiency and employee productivity; manage KPI performance

  • Establish Bonus plans for performance

  • Analyze market and competition to understand transportation and supply chain industry and adapt strategy to achieve a competitive edge in the marketplace and assist with pricing feedback

  • Assist in customer onboarding and the sales process from an operational standpoint

  • Strengthen your knowledge of the market and assist with pricing & negotiation as needed; Assist with pricing on RFPs

  • Ability to analyze orders and make process improvements to gain profitability

  • Sourcing, negotiating, and securing carriers

  • Fostering close relationships and developing opportunities with all new and current carriers to achieve growth

  • Proactively engage with priority accounts to evaluate Carrier Sales needs, gaps, and identify future actions to achieve overall account goals, understand aligned accounts and drive improved business results and reduce costs

  • Other duties as assigned

You Bring:

  • Familiar with all facets of the brokerage business such as contracts, liability, insurance, carrier safety, developing SOPs, structuring departments, etc.

  • Clear and confident communication

  • Ability to develop business from a sales perspective as well as on a strategic level

  • Existing book of contacts preferred

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills

  • Minimum 5-10 years? experience in operations management

  • Managed a team of at least 5 people

  • Dynamic leader with a bold presence and contagious positive attitude

  • Proven ability to contribute to a dynamic, high-energy operations team

  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Suite Products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.)

  • Data analytics
