Manager is a first line manager designated as the leader for a specified
program area(s), its patient population and assigned staff. As such, he/she has 24-hour responsibility
and accountability for all patient care activities, unit operation, and staff
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Uses independentjudgment to exercise authority on behalf of the Medical Center,or effectively recommend such action in the following areas:
May request,recruit, interview, make hiring decisions, and perform retention activities in regard to personnel for thisarea;
May disciplinesubordinates according to MedicalCenter procedure;
Responsible forassigning work to employees and directing the workflow in area ofjurisdiction;
Attempts toresolve employee complaints/concerns;
Conducts periodicperformance appraisal interviews with subordinates;
Recommendsemployee advancements/wage increases to Director.

- Feedback,suggestions, and recommendations related to the achievement of organizationalobjectives are provided.

Humanistic and/or peer-based corrective action isadministered as indicated.
Outstanding professional nurses are identified andencouraged to apply to the Clinical Ladder Program.
Staff retention issues are evaluated and recruitmentefforts are supported.
Collegial relationships between nursing staff, facultyof schools/colleges, and students are developed.
Individual staff progress in accountability-basedproblem-solving and decision-making is assessed as indicated and annually.
Staffparticipation in professional development activities is scheduled andmonitored.
- Bachelor’s degreein nursing. (Associates Degree/Diplomain nursing maybe considered
provided Bachelor’s degree in nursing is successfully
completed within thirty-six (36) months of hire/transfer
Must possesscurrent Michigan RN license
Three (3) yearsclinical experience
CPR issued by American Health Association or Red Cross Certification
Master’s degreein Nursing or health related field
Professional Certification in applicable area within five (5) years of hire/transfer
