Dow Chemical Lead Architect Specialist – Enterprise Data Management in Auburn, Michigan
The Dow Chemical Companyhas an exciting and challenging opportunity for aLead Architecture Specialistlocated inAuburn, MI. The Lead Architecture Specialist (LAS) plays a key role in projects, business studies, and application architecture. The LAS is accountable for ensuring that the overall functional and technical design of I/T applications meets business requirements, conforms to Dow I/T architecture, optimizes productivity and minimizes long-term cost of ownership. He/she works to define business needs, and serves as a leader and mentor for Architecture Specialists.
This is a unique opportunity for you to work with key thought leaders to plan, design, implement and enhance critical Enterprise Data Management capabilities supporting the development and implementation of Dow’s Diamond Systems and enabling our corporate transformation.
Key responsibilities of this job include:
Lead or participate in the formulation and execution of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) related IS projects, including business needs assessments, scope definition, architecture, estimate preparation, risk identification, timelines, implementation and retirement strategies, etc.
Mentor team resources on development methodology and execution.
Lead or participate in setting architectural direction for master data related capture and maintenance systems, interfaces, access mechanisms etc.
Interact with System Architects, Technical Architects, Business Process Architects, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Delivery Leads, etc. to understand business needs and direction, processes, capabilities, etc. Adjust EDM/ Master Data Management ( MDM) direction accordingly.
Provide overall leadership and expertise within EDM for solution design.
Creatively collaborate with the EDM leaders, Master Data Systems Architect, Product Owners, and Domain leaders to define and select effective solutions.
Serve as the main liaison to the Tech Management team.
Accountable for ensuring that functional and technical designs meet requirements, conform to Dow I/T architecture standards, and optimize productivity and long-term cost of ownership.
Serve as functional LAS for key EDM applications.
Understand and assist with implementation of long-term product/system vision for EDM.
Assist with System and Data Architecture development and support efforts.
Coordinate resources to address complex, solution-related issues that come up in development efforts and run-the-business activities.
Understanding of Dow businesses and Diamond Systems Solutions (DSS) capabilities.
Ability to build and foster relationships to drive integration and cross-team decisions.
Deep knowledge of DSS capabilities within a Business Process Team (business process, system and
application), Enabling, Planning & Quality or Implementation team.
- Ability to motivate, direct and continually develop a committed, motivated and high-performing workforce.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant Information Systems experience is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
A degree discipline in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field are preferred.
At least 10 years of relevant Information Systems experience is preferred.
