GP Strategies engages a wide variety of professionals to design and develop performance improvement, technical training and marketing programs for the Automotive OEMs. We are currently searching for a full-time Technical Training Developer based out of Auburn Hills, MI. Job Summary: The technical training developers design and develop ILT and WBT instructional material for automotive service technical training courses. Candidate will and utilizes effective time management, course development, and technical writing and vehicle diagnostic skills. Able to independently conduct research and develop entry and advanced level courses for both internal and external audiences. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of current automotive systems and repair procedures (Powertrain and electrical systems focused). Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools. Act as liaison between Product Engineering and Service Engineering in determining objectives of the course and appropriate method of delivery. Develop Curriculum for training based on specific automotive products. Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma or Equivalent, degree preferred * 2-5 years practical technical experience in automotive industry as a technician, instructor, content developer or related discipline * Windows Outlook/Word/Visio/Excel/Adobe tools * Previous experience in automotive diagnostics, repair and/or troubleshooting, ability to quickly learn new automotive technologies * At least one (1) year of experience in a technical writing capacity, previous experience with curriculum and course development preferred * Occasional travel (less than 10%) outside of the Detroit Metro area * Physical Requirements: Job requires light lifting, bending, and sitting for extended periods of time. Must also use automotive hand tools and vehicle lifting devices to disassemble and reassemble vehicle components for research and photography. * Must be able to satisfy requirements for pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications: * Automotive technical background, with experience in the field working on modern automobiles. Current or prior ASE certs a plus * Web based training development for On Line Training courses or Instructor Led Training course development experience * Multimedia authoring tools such as Captivate, Elucidat, or Lectora.
