Qualifications
The Manager – Lithium Ion Cell Product Release and Validation Center is responsible for the team developing advanced automotive battery cells for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. This will include: leading a team of engineers and designers to develop the designs and meet all production design and development deliverables; and oversight of key design and engineering work including all design work products, supplier technical direction, and product validation. The ideal candidate exudes a passion for excellence in engineering and seeks solutions to challenging electrification problems with strong personal leadership and communication skills and foundational understanding of engineering principles.
Responsibilities include:
Manage a global team responsible for lithium ion cell product development for the FCA portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicles from specifications to production
Be the Point of Contact between FCA and Tier 1 lithium ion cell manufactures for production programs
Plan and execute cell product development with tier 1 suppliers including DFMEA, DVP&R and supporting PPAP
Manage battery life modeling and prediction with supply base
Support production assessments of lithium ion battery manufacturing facilities
Be a member of cross functional teams supporting battery pack design and release engineering
Be the Propulsion Systems Engineering Lead for lithium ion cell sourcing activities for FCA vehicles
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
Minimum TEN (10) years automotive industry experience in product development of lithium ion cells
Prior experience leading engineering teams
Demonstrated experience working directly with battery supply base
Understanding of energy storage systems and vehicle electrification
Good Analytical and Problem Solving Skills -Familiar with EV and HEV
Highly Motivated and Self-Starter
DVP&R and DFMEA Knowledge
Experience with automotive PPAP process
Ability/experience working across enterprise disciplines (purchasing, legal, engineering, manufacturing & operations, etc.)
Demonstrated Ability to Work in a Team Environment
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Equivalent
Minimum TEN (10) years in of product development and/or process development for Lithium Ion Batteries
Understanding of process development for lithium ion batteries including: manufacturing for mixing and coating of electrode films
Excellent quality, manufacturing and product assurance planning skills
Ability to resolve conflicting requirements across multiple organizations
Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Working understanding of PFMEA, DFMEA, and DVP&R
Familiar with FEA, CAE, and CFD, and thermal analytical tools
Good communication, problem solving, computer and presentation skills
