Job Overview


The AUTOSAR BSW Embedded Software Engineer will be working within a team of engineers responsible for the development of basic software components for EE/core and powertrain control modules and work closely with software architects, systems engineers, controls engineers, software engineers and tools engineers to provide technical guidance and direction. The candidate will perform software requirements analysis, design, coding, test plan creation and testing for base software. The team is responsible for performing reviews and/or inspections of requirements, creation of software design documents, configuration of BSW components, C/C++/assembly code, test plans and testing and embracing virtualization methods and techniques used in the base software development life cycle. The candidate will also interact with other departments/vendors on eliciting software requirements and work in a cross-functional environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with embedded C/C++ software (hand-coding)

  • Experience in AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration of Communication Stack

  • Experience in programming / scripting language(s)

  • Adherence to a defined software development process

  • Experience in software verification / validation including white box, black box and gray box testing

  • Experience using data acquisition tools

  • Familiarity of industry standard process framework models (ASPICE, ISO 26262)

  • Familiarity with microprocessor-based controls and development tools (emulators, debuggers, etc.)

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment with minimal effect on productivity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Experience with automotive embedded system technology (e.g. microcontrollers, instrumentation, implementation)

  • Experience in Vector/ETAS/KSAR AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration of CAN/LIN/XCP/Ethernet

  • Electrobit EBTREOS Studio MICROSAR configuration

  • Experience in implementation of CAN/LIN/XCP

  • Experience with Vector CANoe/CANAnlayzer

  • Experience implementing embedded C/C++ software in a Real Time Operating System environment

  • Experience in Matlab/Simulink / Target Link / Embedded Coder (MBD)

  • Experience using Lauterbach debuggers

  • Experience with ETAS INCA data acquisition tools

  • Experience working in cross functional teams

  • Experience in simulation/virtual methodologies and/or tools

  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid, battery electric and/or vehicle subsystems
