The Senior Program Manager is part of the commercial organization supporting Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division portfolio which supplies 'sample to answer' Instrument, software and reagent solutions, has a leading position in research markets and is the market leader in targeted sequencing and Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing. This is not a remote opportunity. The candidate must reside near or be able to relocate to one of the following CSD sites:

South San Francisco, CA - Carlsbad, CA - Austin, TX - Guilford, CT - Ann Arbor, MI - Frederick, MD

How will you make an impact?

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the activities of the Clinical Sequencing Division projects. The Senior Program Manager will be accountable for execution on project timelines and overall program goals from initial concept through successful commercialization, and project closure. The Senior Program Manager will also be responsible for identifying and resolving or escalating resource conflicts and gaps.

The Senior Program Manager provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly-motivated individual with strong program management experience and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate successful facilitation, organizational, and influencing skills. This candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing a range of complex, high-impact projects simultaneously.

What will you do?

  • Leads project core teams.

  • Collaborates with team members to develop detailed project plans (scope, milestones, roles & responsibilities, timing, budget, communication and interface with any external alliance or collaborator partner organizations, etc).

  • Oversee and prepare project team budget including resources and costs, collaborating with Finance and other cross-functional departments.

  • Communicate, document and archive project team activities and decisions. Act as a primary contact for project team related information.

  • Facilitate project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manages projects within established scope, schedule, resources and budget.

  • Complies with company quality management systems, policies and procedures.

  • Proactively identifies any issues, concerns or challenges in regard to assigned project; Facilitates tradeoff decisions and removes obstacles.

  • Conducts proactive risk management: communication of needs, mitigation plans, and requirements relevant to internal/external stakeholders.

  • Regularly reviews project team progress and uses processes, tools and other related resources to ensure effective team dynamics and decision-making, as well as effective interactions with all internal and external collaborators.

  • Builds high morale and team commitments to goals and objectives by creating a compelling sense of common purpose and direction.

  • Acts with a sense of urgency.

How will you get here?

Education/ Experience

  • BS in Molecular Biology, Genetics or Engineering with 10 years related experience; or 6 years and an advanced degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Greater than 5 years multi-disciplinary knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years direct project management.

  • Proficient with project management principles (e.g., resource allocation, cost estimation, risks analysis).

  • Proficient with project management tools and applications, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong influencing skills; proven ability to get things done without formal authority.
