Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Director in Alpena, Michigan
Title: Membership Director Reports to: President/CEO Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include selling new membership investments, upselling current membership investments, and achieving high member retention rates. Secondary responsibilities include assistance with events, economic development support as it relates to serving members, and marketing assistance as it relates to membership investments and value propositions. Skills: Must have strong organization skills with attention to detail, strong written/verbal communications skills including general computer skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, and a separate Chambers-specific membership database). Membership Director must have a warm, friendly, outgoing personality who thrives in a team environment and working independently and who is comfortable creating and growing relationships. Must have a high level of comfort asking for investments. Degree preferred; 3-5 years of relative experience preferred. em/em Summary: New Membership Recruitment/Member Investment Upselling: 50% of time will be spent recruiting new members, developing relationships with potential members (some of which will have been prior members), and selling current members on the value of increasing investments. Membership Retention: 25% of time will be spent engaging with members toward the goal of retaining their memberships. Event Assistance: 10% of time will be spent assisting with recruiting participants for events, and marketing events to potential participants. Economic Development Assistance: 10% of time will be spent assisting with economic development needs including, but not limited to, sharing the story of economic development successes and projects Office Help: Third in line to answer phones and greet guests at the office. (3%) Other: Other duties as may be assigned by the Chamber President/CEO. (2%) This position is a salary position. Some weeks will require work above 40 hours a week.
